Astrid Lindgren put Vimmerby on the map. Here is where she was born and the whole district is filled with places that inspired her. Today, Astrid Lindgren’s World is a well-visited wonderland for the whole family.
The whole park is like a theatre which has come to life. Next to Astrid Lindgren's World is Astrid Lindgren Gården, which is an exhibition about her life’s achievements and is open all-year-round. Even the sets where “Emil in Lönneberga” and “The Children of Bullerbyn” can be found in the municipality of Vimmerby.
The typical countryside of Småland is particularly inviting and there are a number of fantastic places that are well worth visiting. The impressive Rumskulla Oak is a must. The area around Djursdala offers fantastic natural countryside and seeing the cherry trees in full bloom in Pelarne is a heavenly site for both body and soul.
